Cabinet Refacing: A Great Looking Kitchen for Less
At Inspiration Design Center, we offer convenience as much as saving cost. We do not think it is necessary to replace kitchen cabinets for renovation due to alternatives such as Refacing.
Installing new cabinets will use up a hefty part of the typical remodeling budget as it adds several secondary costs that most people do not take into account when considering a kitchen remodeling project. Additional costs may involve the purchase of new handles, molding, installation, sales tax, delivery charges and finally any required plumbing or electrical work.
How is Cabinet Refacing done?
Refacing is the best affordable method for giving tired but otherwise sturdy cabinets a makeover. The work itself is a standardized progression of tasks and the whole process is over and done in a few days. We begin by removing doors and drawer fronts from cabinets and roughing up the old finish on face frames and side panels to prepare them for the new covering. There generally are three finish options: plastic laminates, rigid thermofoils and wood veneer that come in a wide variety of solid colors and wood-grain looks.
Refacing is not for every kitchen. It is not the right solution for kitchens with failing cabinets or remodels where major layout changes are scheduled. Refacing should not be done if cabinets are metal, rusted and sagging.
How much you pay for Refacing depends on the size of your kitchen, the materials you choose and how many options you decide to include. Good planning and essential preparation will make your kitchen area comfortable, functional, and stylish for years to come.
